Ms. Amina Montia

Ms. Montia is a Chartered Accountant, with over 29 years of post-qualification experience in a variety of industries internationally and locally. She has worked in reputable companies such as GEC Plessey Telecommunications and Sema Group Facilities Management in the UK, as Management Accountant.

She has also held executive positions in Ghana including Director of Finance and Administration of PHC Motors Ltd and Executive Head, Finance and Administration at the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre. She was also the Financial Controller of Leoshield Exploration GH Limited, an Australian company.

Her experiences are wide ranging- covering Financial and Management Accounting, Financial Management, Administration, Project Management, Project Accounting, Human Resource Management including staff recruitment, organising and evaluating organisational systems and operations, setting up of systems both manual and computerised, successfully managed the change by training and coaching staff to build their capacity to work effectively and get their buy-in to the project.

Ms. Montia’s rich work experiences has afforded her the knowledge to provide consultancy services to a wide range of clients; companies, government departments and nongovernmental organisations (NGOs) in the above areas among others.

As a very practical trainer, she has carried out capacity building programmes, trained and coached her clients in English and other Ghanaian languages. These include corporate clients as well as associations of women on Entrepreneurship Skills Development, Project Management and Accounting, Credit Management, Risk Management, Marketing, Book Keeping/ Financial Record Keeping, Budgeting, Cash Management, Microfinance, Leadership Skills Development, Assertiveness and Effective Communication.

Her interest in empowerment of women has led her to spearhead and set up the Savannah Women’s Empowerment Group-Ghana (SWEGG), a non-governmental organisation working for the economic and political empowerment of women in all the three northern regions of Ghana; Upper West, Upper East and Northern Regions. SWEGG currently has over one thousand (1,000) members. The membership of SWEGG includes shea butter processes, shea nut pickers, farmers, entrepreneurs, bankers, educationists, students, researchers, development experts and gender equality advocates. She is currently the Convener of SWEGG.

She is the Board chairperson of Slid Industries in Accra and sits on the boards of Baobab Microfinance Company Limited, Foundation for Security and Development in Africa (FOSDA). She has also served on the board of GPAK (a subsidiary of Graphic Communications Group Limited).
